Catching up…
by Billy@JB Photos on Apr.16, 2009, under Uncategorized
Once again, I have been remiss in keeping the blog up-to-date!
In case you’re wondering what we’ve been up to, here is a little something I like to call a “photo essay”! (Ok, it’s just a few pics from different events we’ve shot in the last month or so!)
Ode to Summer
by Billy@JB Photos on Mar.24, 2009, under For Fun
This recent warm spell has got me thinking about Summer, so I found some pics that we shot downtown last Summer!
Heather and Ty were willing subjects, so we had a little fun! These pics are from their engagement session we shot, and needless to say, this was the last location of the day! I don’t remember exactly how hot it was that day, but we’d been shooting for a couple of hours and when we got here to shoot everybody was pretty beat. It took very little coaxing to get Heather and Ty to test the water. They had a great time, and it was definitely fun to shoot!
I’ve also been having a little fun with black & white conversions lately, so this mini-series is all b&w. Enjoy!
I smell exhaust and burnt rubber…..

Maybe it’s because the NASCAR season just started a couple of weeks ago and the party’s coming to Texas Motor Speedway in a little over a month, but whatever it is, happy couples are celebrating at Texas Motor Speedway! A few days ago I reported that we were chosen to photograph Alison and Chris’s wedding at the Speedway Club overlooking the track at Texas Motor Speedway – I’m excited that we may have an opportunity to shoot Kristen and Garret’s celebration at Texas Motor Speedway in August!
Here’s the deal – they know how to put it down the right way out there! If you’re looking for a venue that’s a little different from the norm, get in touch with Candice @ (817) 215-8496 at The Speedway Club!
On another note – Here are a few pics of Crystal who has found herself “in a family way”!
We were fortunate enough to capture a few special moments of her, her husband, and her little girl! Enjoy! (Click on any of the images to see a larger view!)
Leave feedback, start a discussion – we’d love to hear from you! (We know you’re just going to look at the pics and split, though. Shameless.)

OT: something different….for good
by Billy@JB Photos on Mar.04, 2009, under For Fun
As photographers, we often get opportunities to shoot projects that don’t fall under a typical “wedding” or “portrait” category. A lot of times the the guidelines are relaxed a little bit, so we get to use these shoots as a chance to have fun, try new things, and bend the rules a little bit. This was definitely the case a couple of Sundays ago.
Catalyst Church has been meeting at The Harbor in Rockwall (at the movie theater) for the past several months. They’ll be moving into a building in the next 30 days or so, but Jonathan Sprang, the Arts Pastor at Catalyst, wanted to document the process they go through each week to convert a movie theater into a house of worship complete with a stage, lighting, audio/video, and a 6-piece band. A nice video would’ve worked for this project, I suppose, but there’s something about watching time-lapse photography that really helps you see what goes into setting this up every week. Plus, I’m a photographer – not a videographer – so here’s a fun look at Catalyst Church on a typical Sunday morning…
This video is a compilation of over 1,500 pictures taken at approximately 8-second intervals for about four hours. So what did I do for for hours while the camera did its thing? I grabbed another camera and took a few pictures of the praise team (called “Fusion”)! You can see me in the video – I’m the conspicuously tall guy moving back and forth across the screen annoying everybody with the flash on the camera! Ha!
Here are a few stills I took of some of the pastors, band members, and A/V techs at Catalyst:

To see the rest of the stills from Catalyst, check out the set on Flickr.
It has been a busy week, with lots of people setting up their Easter portrait sessions and clients calling to check availability for weddings! If you haven’t yet, call or email us to schedule your next session or talk about your upcoming wedding!
Thanks for looking!

Calling All June Brides!!
by Billy@JB Photos on Feb.25, 2009, under 2008, Easter, Weddings
I love days like today! The weather could hardly be better, Sirius Satellite Radio is playing some great tunes, and customers are calling!!
This morning, I set an appointment to shoot an old friend’s children in a couple of weeks. Those youngsters should be a lot of fun, and Rebekah is super-creative, so we should get some GREAT shots! I’m looking forward to it!
And as if that weren’t enough, a bride called back today to firm up plans for their bridal and wedding photos coming up in June! Congratulations to Alison and Chris! They’re getting married at the First United Methodist Church in Keller, and the reception will be at Texas Motor Speedway! Will it be NASCAR-themed?? Stay tuned!
I’m so happy I get to do what I do for a living! I love it!
Remember – if you need pics of the kids or family for Easter, birthdays, or “just because” – call us to book an appointment! And if you’re getting married this summer – call QUICK – our calendar is filling up!!
Talk to you soon!!

Candice & BJ, Valentine’s Day Update
by Billy@JB Photos on Feb.24, 2009, under 2009, February, Hotel Zaza, Weddings
I’ve already posted a few pictures from Candice and BJ’s Valentine’s Day wedding at Hotel Zaza in Dallas, but since I’ve added the rest of the pics to their online gallery, I wanted to put up a few more pics from the wedding day. The wedding designer – Margaret Johnstone – did a great job with the decorations, and the whole evening went great! Enjoy the pics!

BJ is a firefighter in Coppell, and the cake artist did an awesome job on his cake, making an almost exact replica of BJ’s helmet! I heard it tasted as good as it looked!

BJ and the Groomsmen wore purple wristbands and purple flowers in memory of BJ’s mom.

Every time I see this picture it reminds me of the opening scene from “Wedding Crashers” – Jump up and shout, now!

There were a couple of “special guests” present to help kick off the party! After all, it *was* Valentine’s Day!

…and what’s Valentine’s Day without Cupid? Isn’t Cupid supposed to be a baby?!?
Candice and BJ – Thank you for letting us be a part of your wedding! We had a great time! Enjoy the pics – the album is going to be awesome!

Heather & Ty – August 31, 2008 @ The Belo Mansion
by Billy@JB Photos on Feb.20, 2009, under 2008, 2009, February, Hotel Zaza, October, The Aldredge House, Uncategorized
Here are some pages from an album we made for the wedding coordinator after Heather and Ty’s wedding at the Belo Mansion. The lighting was awesome, and really set the mood for the whole reception. If you know Heather and Ty, you’ll know that this reception was exactly them – lots of great music, elegant decorations, energetic party – a really fun time! Enjoy the pics!
