For Fun
Ode to Summer

This recent warm spell has got me thinking about Summer, so I found some pics that we shot downtown last Summer!
Heather and Ty were willing subjects, so we had a little fun! These pics are from their engagement session we shot, and needless to say, this was the last location of the day! I don’t remember exactly how hot it was that day, but we’d been shooting for a couple of hours and when we got here to shoot everybody was pretty beat. It took very little coaxing to get Heather and Ty to test the water. They had a great time, and it was definitely fun to shoot!
I’ve also been having a little fun with black & white conversions lately, so this mini-series is all b&w. Enjoy!
OT: something different….for good

As photographers, we often get opportunities to shoot projects that don’t fall under a typical “wedding” or “portrait” category. A lot of times the the guidelines are relaxed a little bit, so we get to use these shoots as a chance to have fun, try new things, and bend the rules a little bit. This was definitely the case a couple of Sundays ago.
Catalyst Church has been meeting at The Harbor in Rockwall (at the movie theater) for the past several months. They’ll be moving into a building in the next 30 days or so, but Jonathan Sprang, the Arts Pastor at Catalyst, wanted to document the process they go through each week to convert a movie theater into a house of worship complete with a stage, lighting, audio/video, and a 6-piece band. A nice video would’ve worked for this project, I suppose, but there’s something about watching time-lapse photography that really helps you see what goes into setting this up every week. Plus, I’m a photographer – not a videographer – so here’s a fun look at Catalyst Church on a typical Sunday morning…
This video is a compilation of over 1,500 pictures taken at approximately 8-second intervals for about four hours. So what did I do for for hours while the camera did its thing? I grabbed another camera and took a few pictures of the praise team (called “Fusion”)! You can see me in the video – I’m the conspicuously tall guy moving back and forth across the screen annoying everybody with the flash on the camera! Ha!
Here are a few stills I took of some of the pastors, band members, and A/V techs at Catalyst:

It has been a busy week, with lots of people setting up their Easter portrait sessions and clients calling to check availability for weddings! If you haven’t yet, call or email us to schedule your next session or talk about your upcoming wedding!
Thanks for looking!
